‘IYB.’ is a new brand from Iyobe Kogei, which, since its foundation in 1964, has supplied furniture to numerous prestigious institutions across Japan, including the Imperial Household Agency, the State Guest House, and the National Diet Building.

Designers and craftsmen harmonise their sensibilities to create new value in furniture through the art of handcrafting. Drawing on advanced chair-upholstery techniques cultivated over many years by Iyobe Kogei—as well as a sincere approach fostered through the repeated creation and restoration of furniture—the brand offers ‘Bespoke Furniture’ that attentively responds to the user’s preferences and subtle requests, bringing them to life.

Guided by the philosophy of ‘Bespoke Furniture’, just as a tailor crafts garments for each individual, the brand expresses a harmonious relationship between the furniture—created in close alignment with the user’s aesthetic sensibilities and lifestyle—and the surrounding space.

TAILOR | Sofa

A modular sofa born from the concept of ‘tailoring furniture’. The stitching that outlines its soft forms speaks to the aesthetic sensibility of fine tailoring. The choice of thread and piping offers infinite possibilities for expression, and the configuration can be freely adapted from a single-seater to a family-sized sofa. Combining it with side or centre tables further deepens the harmony between function and form. Tailor is ‘tailored furniture’ imbued with the sensitivity and flexibility found in the finest details.

ROBE | Personal chair / Salon chair

A chair series inspired by the silhouette of enveloping fabric. It translates the physical sensation of being ‘enveloped’ into an organic structure, characterised by a minimalist, three-dimensional form created by a double-layered shell. By combining fabric and leather in each layer, the overlapping materials create delicate shades and highlights, adding depth to the space. ‘Robe’ is a chair that embodies the gentle embrace born of the harmony between materials and form.

HEM | Salon table / Coffee table / Side table, Stool

A table series whose leg design is inspired by the curves of clothing, which flow gracefully in response to the body’s movements. Two arc-shaped legs support the tabletop with a sense of lightness, harmonising with a wide range of materials including wood, stone, and glass. The φ400 is ideal as a stool or coffee table, the φ650 as a centre table, and the φ1100 as a salon table connecting the living and dining areas. Hem gracefully links materials and space, bringing beautiful movement to everyday life.
